The Nelson-Atkins is pleased to welcome your group! Tours guided by our skilled volunteer Docents are available for booking.
Docent-led adult group tours are available for adult groups of 2 people or more on a topic of your choice. To request a Docent-led tour, please access the Tour Request Form on the Tours page.
Docent-led Collections Tours
The following tours are currently available for request:

- Featured Exhibitions
- Real to Surreal: 19th & 20th Century European Art
- Religion in Art
- Sculpture Park
Cost: $100 flat fee per each group of 12 participants. Non-refundable – payment due in full at the time of booking.
Discounts:
- Nelson-Atkins members receive a 20% booking discount.
- Tours organized by colleges and universities for degree-seeking students are free.
- Nelson-Atkins partners, non-profits, and groups with demonstrated need may be eligible for booking discounts. Please inquire with the Tour Scheduler at tours@nelson-atkins.org for eligibility prior to booking.
Docent-led adult group tours help support the museum by keeping general admission and school tours free for all visitors.
Docent-led Custom Tours
Looking for a more customized topic or experience? Please reach out to our Program Scheduler at tours@nelson-atkins.org to inquire about the availability of your chosen topic before you book, to ensure that the collections on view can support your chosen theme.

Self-Guided Tours
Looking to lead your own tour around the museum? To ensure the best experience in the galleries, self-guided tour groups are asked to book their visit in advance.
- Maximum of 40 participants for a self-guided tour.
- If your group arrives at the museum without pre-registering, you will need to fill out a self-guided visit form before taking your group into the galleries. Please note that, in such circumstances, priority access will be given to any booked Docent-led tour groups in the galleries.
Cost: Free
Please note: General admission tickets are required to enter the museum. Tickets are free, and may be secured in advance via the website or onsite at the Information Desk the day of your visit.
