The FOA Council has helped plan, enhance, and/or execute the following events in 2023 in collaboration with the Nelson-Atkins Staff:

• Bark in the Sculpture Park
• Sketch Club en Plein Air
• Deaf Cultural Festival, Día de los Muertos, Juneteenth, Passport to India, and other Cultural Festivals
• Member Appreciation Weekend
• Member Date Night
• Member Exhibition Openings

Upon election to the Council, members must:

• Maintain a valid and active Nelson-Atkins membership in good standing throughout their three year tenure
• Attend a monthly meeting (currently third Thursday of each month from 4pm to 5:30pm)
• Must attend at least two-thirds of required Council meetings during a year and four Council or Nelson-Atkins sponsored events per year
• Serve on at least one standing committee or subcommittee
• Assist with program planning and program execution in collaboration with Museum Staff
• All new volunteers will be required to agree to a background check screening
• This is an expected 3-5 hour commitment per month
